PVA From £6 for 5ltr

What we say:

Everyone has heard of mixing PVA with sawdust to make a filler for filling gaps between floorboards but is it sufficent for filling at all, To be honest with you at the price you can pick it up for its got to be worth a good try. It looks just like mix and fill and performs similar too. Shrinks. Maybe a more expensive tub would make a lot of difference or is PVA just PVA Im not an expert, Just a one time user.

We used this method recently, unlike spirit or solvent based resin this stuff needs an over night drying period otherwise your going to go through plenty of expensive sandpaper as its real cloggy stuff, Its not stainable so only attempt this on a natural (un coloured) Finish Unless of course your going to put in a little waterbased powdered dye. After pushing all the PVA and sawdust into the gaps it was time to leave the job for the day.

On our return the next day, although the PVA had held ok, It had shrunk and drooped a lot (more than Mix and Fill) After walking around scratching my head trying to think of something to make this look a bit nicer, I remembered the Lecol Duo i had sitting in the van waiting for a likely candidate to be sampled on.

We loaded a wet mix of Duo into the gaps and sanded it off 20 minutes later. Looked absolutey top notch. Could this be a way of saving money on your Duo.

I wouldn't bother going through all this process, Id sooner pay ten times the price and use Duo.

Or maybe not...............
